The 2024 United States Presidential Election will be held on Tuesday November 5, 2024, are you ready? The question is, are you certain you are registered to vote?

The New York State deadline to register to vote is quickly approaching. Here's how to verify that you are indeed registered to vote and, if not, how to register before it's too late.

For an individual to legally register to vote in New York you must meet certain requirements;

  • Must be a citizen of the United States
  • Must be a resident of New York for at least 30 days before election day
  • Must be 18-years-of-age or older
  • Must not be incarcerated for a felony conviction
  • Must not currently be judged incompetent by a court
  • Must not claim the right to vote elsewhere

It only take about 2 minutes to register BUT the New York State deadline to register to vote in-person, online or by mail, according to vote.org, is Saturday October 26, 2024.

If you are not certain whether you are registered to vote or not the New York State Board of Elections makes it easy to verify registration, search for your poll site and to track an absentee ballot HERE.

In New York, before you cast your vote on Tuesday November 5, 2024, you will NOT need to show photo ID IF you have voted in New York before, registered in person, or provided ID at the time of registration. Everyone else WILL need to show photo ID, a current utility bill, paycheck, government document, etc. that shows your name and address when you vote.
