The Jets fans feel like it was a blessing in disguise that Ryan Fitzpatrick became their default starter after Geno Smith was lost for the first month, earlier this off-season. Is Fitzpatrick good enough to get Gang Green to the post-season?

"So far, he’s exceeded some expectations, including mine," said ESPN New York's Mike Westhoff. "When I was at training camp, before the incident with Geno, for a whole week, to be honest with you, he looke serviceable at best, that’s what I saw.

"Since then, he’s emerged as the starter, we’ve seen some good things. He’s 24 for 36 for 261 yards this pre-season. He has a 66% completion with two touchdowns, zero interceptions and a 106 QBR. If he can sustain that, everybody would be happy.

"But the thing to keep in mind with him is that this is a much better offensive football team than they’ve put out on that field in the last several years."

The most obvious addition for the Jets this year is Brandon Marshall, who the Jets acquired in a trade with the Chicago Bears.

The Jets kick off their season on Sunday, September 13th at 1p ET against the Cleveland Browns.
