The NFL is by far the standard when it comes to professional sports. Other sports want to be the NFL (In some cases). The NHL have now made a drastic change reminiscent to what the NFL did.

The NHL is set to announce that their draft will now be held in Chicago starting in 2017.  NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, Chicago Blackhawks chairman Rocky Wirtz and team president John McDonough will be among those in attendance to make the announcement in a press conference slated for later today.

Chicago has never hosted the entry level NHL draft in the event's 53-year history. This upcoming June's draft will be held in Buffalo. Last year, Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel went first and second overall respectively to the Edmonton Oilers and the Buffalo Sabres.

Could there be some local products drafted come the 2017 NHL Draft in Chicago? Most certainly.
