Petition To Ban Gov. Cuomo From Bills Playoff Gains Momentum
The Buffalo Bills will have the ability to host 6,772 fans this Saturday when they begin their playoff run against the Indianapolis Colts. This would be the first sporting event in New York to allow fans since the COVID-19 pandemic halted the sports world in mid-March of 2020. It's a happy day for the Bills Mafia except for the nearly 19,000 fans that have signed a petition in an attempt to keep the man that made the decision to open the stands up, Governor Andrew Cuomo out of the game.
Governor Cuomo has said he was looking forward to attending a Bills game since May of 2020 "I want to watch the Buffalo Bills. But I’m still objective, acting as governor, there’s no personal agenda here, Yes, I do want to watch the Bills. But that is not subverting my role as governor. I think this is in the best interest of all the people and the best interest of the state of New York — even though I do have a coincident, personal agenda because I want to watch the Bills. But they are separate agendas. At least some would say I have a conflict of interest; I want to disclose it.” Those comments came from the governor's daily press briefing on May 18, 2020, when Cuomo was announcing that teams needed to plan for no fans.
WIVB in Buffalo is reporting that one member of the Bills Mafia would like the governor to stay home. Jeffrey Dorenzo started the "Ban Andrew Cuomo Buffalo Bills Stadium Playoff Games" petiton that at the time of this article was rapidly approaching 19,000 signatures. In an attempt to keep politics out of this I will say as someone that would LOVE to be at this game I'd totally turn a blind eye to whatever state leader opened the gates regargless of the reasoning but Dorenzo feels otherwise.
"So Cuomo is going to attend our playoff game after telling us that we can only attend at less than 10% capacity? If he thinks he has more right to a seat in that stadium over people who have waited over 20 years for this opportunity, then people better be there to protest his entry. This is OUR team! This is OUR home. We don't want you here "
Do you agree with the petition, are you just happy to see fans in the stands or do you think it's kinda cool the governor is a Bills fan?
