Saratoga County Getting a Much Needed and Bigger Stewart’s Shop
There are Stewart's Shops all over Upstate New York. Some of them have been renovated and others have not. There is one in Saratoga County that has been well overdue for an upgrade. It will be renovated, but it will also be in a new, bigger location.
Which Stewart's Shop is Getting an Upgrade?
Stewart's has had a shop in Malta near the Exit 12 roundabouts for a very long time. It is located at 2505 Route 9 in Malta. Stewart's will soon close this location when the new Stewart's opens.
Where Will The New Stewart's Shop Be Located?
Also on Route 9, Stewart's purchased the Sunoco station which had a car wash on the property that had four bays. It is technically in Mechanicville at 2465 Route 9. This is almost directly across from the Stewart's that will close after it is built. They bought the property for $1.2 million according to the Saratoga Business Report. The car wash on the far left has already been demolished.
What Can We Expect When the New Stewart's is Built?
The construction of the new Stewart's is set to begin in July and will be a lot bigger than the old location. It will have a Sunoco gas station, seating inside the convenience store, Stewart's food-to-go options including meatballs, macaroni and cheese, pizza, and more. The property is very big to accommodate the new store.
Erica Komoroske who is the Director of Public Affairs said of the project:
Malta is booming and we are excited to be a part of that growth and the opportunity to finally offer gas and a new Stewart’s Shop on this stretch of Route 9 for both commuters and Malta residents. There isn’t room for gas in our current location, so it will be nice to expand and have a gas presence in the area.
How Many Stewart's Shops Are Being Renovated and Built?
Currently, there are fifty-three Stewart's Shops in Saratoga County. There are 350 across New York and Vermont. The plan is to spend nearly $50 million on renovations and rebuilding Stewart's locations in 2022. There will be six new stores built and 14 stores remodeled.
