Several Section II basketball players will be competing in the second annual BCANY (Basketball Coaches Association of New York) Summer Hoops Festival in Johnson City which runs Friday through Sunday at three schools.

The BCANY has become increasingly active in recent years in supporting the sport and launched this event in 2011 in response to the demise of the Empire State Games.

The Adirondack/Capital (Sections 2 & 7) girls roster consists of Cassidy Chapko (Hoosic Valley), Hannah Friend (Academy of Holy Names), Mary Pattison (Troy), Courtney Avery (Troy), Kiana Patterson (Troy), Emia Willingham Hurst (Albany), Jill Davis (Queensbury), Mikayla Deguire (Watervliet), Eileen Hurley (Queensbury) and Nicole Sheloski (Hudson Falls).

Dave Decker (Ballston Spa) is the head coach while Carlin DeMarini (Saratoga) and Maria Stipano (Saratoga) are assistants.

The Adirondack/Capital boys roster includes Joey Lufkin (Argyle), Isaiah Dobere (Troy), Dyaire Holt (Troy), Jordan Gleason (Watervliet), Tyler McCloud (Watervliet), Jamal Hood (Green Tech), Jack Morrow (Albany Academy), Elijah Burns (LaSalle), John Sica (Bethlehem), Greg Stire (CBA), Derrek Thomas (Bishop Maginn) and Javion Ogunyemi (Troy).

Rich Hurley (Troy) has been named head coach with assistance from Orlando DiBacco (Watervliet), Prosper Karangawa, Guy DiBacco (Lansingburgh) and Brian Fruscio (Albany Academy).

The schedule for Saturday features dunking and 3-point shooting contests along with informational meetings for parents navigating the college recruiting process.
