All week long we've been talking about the 85th Anniversary of the Albany Twilight League, the oldest amateur baseball league in the entire country.

Tonight is "Opening Night" for the league as the reigning league champion Albany Senators get set to take on the perennially great Albany Athletics at Bleecker Stadium in Albany (7:15 p.m.).

Today, we spoke with Senators manager Rob Bellizzi. We spoke about this years version of the Senators, which includes several names that local fans will recognize. Furthermore, we talked about the special connection that the Bellizzi family has with the Twilight League.

Bellizzi's father, Bob, was the longtime baseball coach at the College of Saint Rose, and he started the Albany Senators franchise in 1996. When he passed away nearly nine years ago, Rob and his brother Mike kept the franchise going.

Furthermore, the Twilight League plays a handful of games each season at "Bob Bellizzi Field," which is at Saint Rose.

The Senators won the title last year for the first time since 2005 and did so without a single all-star selection.
