The past few months have been like none we have ever seen for local Section 2 athletics. Some high schools were able to compete this fall in traditional fall sports. In the girls' soccer Suburban Council final, Shaker and Shenendehowa were scheduled to take the pitch for the championship. However due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the North Colonie school district, Shaker was forced to forfeit the match. However Shenendehowa refused the forfeit and instead the teams were ruled as co-champions.

The gesture by Shen was embraced by sports fans across the Capital Region. Below you can view some of the social media messages shared after the classy decision.
