How Important Is This Alex Cora Extension For Alex Cora?
How about the Boston Red Sox finally giving their manager Alex Cora the contract extension he deserves. Nice to see a three year deal done by Craig Breslow and the front office. Cora is arguably the best manager in baseball. All of his players love him and would literally run through a brick wall for him. Such a smart move that will pay off long term for the organization as the Red Sox will continue to be competitive. Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:
Alex Cora should win American League manager of the year and the Boston Red Sox won't allow Cora to manage elsewhere next season. Boston is locking Cora up for three more years with an extension that will pay him $7 million per year. Cora has earned it because this year's team is overachieving and it's because Cora knows how to motivate players and get them to play up to their expectations and in some cases beyond. His teams are always well prepared, and they play the game the way it's supposed to be played. If Boston makes the playoffs, it's because of Cora and the job he has done.

Cora won the Red Sox their last World Series back in 2018 and virtually all of the fanbase defends him as they should. He is a brilliant baseball mind and his approach to managing and understanding what it takes to win. I am a big Alex Cora fan and am very happy that this deal got done.
