Remember a few weeks ago when Yankees GM Brian Cashman publicly proclaimed his disapproval of the Yankees decision to trade for Alfonso Soriano? I think he may be regretting that decision right about now.

Soriano followed up last night’s two home-run, six RBI performance with a 2 home-run, seven RBI outing as the Yankees pummeled the listless L.A. Angels 11-3. Soriano belted a grand slam in the first inning after Jared Weaver walked Curtis Granderson to load the bases, putting Bombers up 4-0, and added a solo shot off the Angel ace in the bottom of the fifth to extend the lead to 9-3. In addition to the seven by Soriano, the Yanks got batted in runs by Granderson, Robbie Cano and a pair from Chris Stewart to complete the route.

Jared Weaver was lit up for nine earned runs over five innings of work. On the other side, Ivan Nova continued to shine, allowing three earned over 7.1 efficient innings for his sixth win of the season.
