Tim Stauffer continued his hot streak on Tuesday night.

The Saratoga native pitched 6 shutout innings as four relievers completed a six-hitter to help the San Diego Padres beat the Florida Marlins, 4-0.

Stauffer won for the fourth time in his past five starts and lowered his ERA to 2.83. He allowed four hits and two walks and stranded three runners in scoring position.  He is now 6-6 on the season.

Ryan Ludwick and Orlando Hudson hit consecutive two-out RBI doubles in the first inning for the Padres, and that was all they needed. San Diego won for only the second time in the past 10 games.

Stauffer has now allowed 2 runs or less in 8 straight games.  The Spa Catholic graduate has pitched at least 6 innings in all of those starts. In his 19 outings this season, he has 15 quality starts (pitching at least 6 innings while allowing 3 runs or less).
