The 2023-24 school year is right around the corner, and families in New York and beyond are hustling to ready their kids for the first day of school in their new grade. There are clothes and supplies to buy, backpacks to organize and lunches to get ready; it's a very busy month for every family in this situation.

Ahead of the new school year, a study was published that compared every state's school systems against one another, and ranked them from best to worst. While New York's schools performed decently well, there were a few other Northeast states that jumped ahead of them in these rankings.
