Dallas Mavericks small forward Shawn Marion has reached a new level of coolness with this parody of an epic video game.

If you’ve ever played the video game “Super Mario Bros.” you’re fully aware of how incredibly funny this parody is.  Instead of Mario or Luigi jumping on Goombas or spitting fireballs at those flying duck things, it’s Shawn Marion doing the same thing.  Plus, there is a clever basketball twist with Marion capturing the Larry O’Brien trophy at the end.

It doesn’t look like this storybook ending is in the cards for the 2012-13 Dallas Mavericks though.  Heading into Dallas’ next game against the Utah Jazz on Monday night, the Mavs are 13-21 on the season.  Dirk Nowitzki made his first start of the season on Saturday after missing the first 27 games due to arthroscopic knee surgery.

Dallas is currently the 12th seed in the Western Conference.  It doesn’t look like Shawn Marion will be dunking on Bowser to claim the Larry O’Brien trophy in real life this year, but I love the concept of this video.  It’s very creative and brings back fond childhood memories of trying to master “Super Mario Bros.”
