It's blanket statement time: the 2021 American League Championship Series, about to be played between the Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros, would not be happening without the Capital Region.

Seems a bit drastic, right? Well, normally, I'd agree, and say that I was being dramatic. This time, however, is not one of those times. The Tri-City Valley Cats were an affiliate of the Houston Astros from 2002 through 2020, and between the current members of the Astros' roster and a few defections to the Boston Red Sox, there are TEN former Cats that could be suiting up for the ALCS this year.

Without further ado, here are the players that used to call the Albany area home, and what they did during their time at the Joe. If you notice, two big names are not on this list: Alex Bregman and Carlos Correa. Apparently, they both thought they were too good for Short-Season Single A baseball.
