Multiple Grade I winner Catholic Boy made his return to the races on Monday. After a 3 month layoff, the Travers winner was sent out as the even money post time favorite in the Grade 3 Knickerbocker at Belmont park.

After sitting third on the backstretch, Catholic Boy made his move on the far turn but did not have the same turn of foot we are used to seeing. The eventual winner, Lucullan, swept on by at the eighth pole while Catholic Boy faded to fourth.

This was the first race for Catholic Boy since his 2nd place finish in the Grade 2 Suburban on the main track at Belmont park. He return to the turf was the first try since the win in the Grade 2 Dixie Stakes at Pimlico on Preakness weekend.

Trainer Jonathan Thomas told reporters after the race that the Breeders Cup Classic on November 2nd is the most likely scenario for Catholic Boy's next start.
