Horse racing is a year round sport but there is something about the first Saturday in May that signals the beginning of the racing season. All the preps have been run and we now have the 20 horses that will enter the starting gate for the Kentucky Derby.

Many local connections are in this years field including trainer Chad Brown. The Mechanicville native and eclipse award winning trainer will saddle 2 year old champion Good Magic in this years derby. Good Magic won the Breeders Cup Juvenile last November beating many horses in this field. He won his most recent start in the Toyota Bluegrass at Keenland and the word around Churchill Downs is that Brown is extremely confident in his colt. He will break from post 6 and is 12-1 on the morning line.

Local owners are also in this years run for the roses. The (#3) Promises Fulfilled is owned by Robert Baron, who lives locally in Voorheesville, will most likely be on the lead. Also (#10) My Boy Jack is owned by Don't Tell My Wife Stables which includes local connections in Rob Slack and Kirk Godby.

The Paddock Pass is back with TVG Analyst Simon Bray joining Brian Mariano to break down the 144th Kentucky Derby!
