UAlbany Football’s Greg Gattuso Is Heading To Penn State
UAlbany football head coach announced yesterday that he is heading back to his alma mater Penn state as a defensive line consultant. The official decision came Wednesday afternoon followed up by a press conference with Greg and Athletic Director Mark Benson. Coach Gattuso put in the hard work and dedication for 11 seasons and was beloved by the Albany community. He is also responsible for being the head coach of the greatest season in UAlbany football history back in 2023. Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:
Greg Gattuso leave's UAlbany after producing the football programs greatest ever season in 2023 when he led the Great Danes to the FCS Final 4 a season that will never be topped. Gattuso's legacy also includes a playoff run in 2019 and he ran a program that was well respected on and off the field. Gattuso was not looking to leave after 11 seasons as the Great Danes head coach but when Penn State calls, you can't say no especially when it's your Alma mater and a school you helped win a National Title in 1982 as a defensive lineman. Good luck coach Gattuso, you left your mark at UAlbany, and your success won't be forgotten.

I will personally miss Greg and his family as he was a close personal friend ever since he got here. He is and always has been first class and you just have to respect that. I am happy for him in taking this opportunity and James Franklin and Penn State are very lucky to have him back.
