Upstate New York State Park Recognized Among Nation's Best for Hikers

A story from New York Upstate shared details from a list published by outdoor news magazine Outside, which released its rankings of the 14 best state parks for hiking in the country. No one from our area will be surprised to learn that an Upstate New York state park made the list, as the first one to be listed was Letchworth State Park in Castile, NY.

The "Grand Canyon of the East" produces views that you simply cannot find anywhere else in the country. 600-foot cliff walls are met by miles of winding river, with acres of trees lining the valley as far as the eye can see.

Take a look at the map below to get a better sense of just how massive this state park is:

As mentioned by NY Upstate, other state parks that were ranked along Letchworth with were Ricketts Glen State Park in Pennsylvania, Big Bend Ranch State Park in Texas and Castle Rocks State Park in Idaho.
