The Philadelphia Phillies are on quite the run in this 2023 Major League Baseball Postseason.  They do not lose at home and hit a ton of home runs.  However the only reason we're paying any attention to them locally is shaker high school graduate Jeff Hoffman has been a steady arm out of the bullpen for them.  He pitched a clean inning in Game Two of the NLCS on Tuesday night and had two strikeouts with just ten pitches.  His slider and splitter were nasty and he looked much more comfortable out there on the mound.  Below is my quick take on this from the Times Union:

Nice to see Shaker grad Jeff Hoffman pitching a clean inning to help the Phillies take Game two of the NLCS against Arizona on Tuesday in Philadelphia. Hoffman has been through a lot of ups and downs with several teams during his Major League Baseball career but now he has a legitimate shot at winning a World Series Title. Shen grad Ian Anderson won a World Series ring in a starting role with the Atlanta Braves and now Hoffman has a great opportunity to win the top prize as a relief pitcher for a Philadelphia team that his red hot as the best of seven series shifts to Arizona for the next three games starting on Thursday.

It was Hoffman's first relief appearance since Game Two of the NLDS where he have up the go ahead homerun to Austin Riley of the Atlanta Braves in the bottom of the eighth inning.  I hope he gets more appearances in this series and if they make it to the World Series.
