Was This Dwayne Killings Best Season Yet At UAlbany?
The UAlbany Great Danes men's basketball team's season is finally over ending on Tuesday night in Smithfield Rhode Island. Bryant defeated them 91-78 and showed why they are the best team in the America East Conference. But I really honestly think UAlbany and head coach Dwayne Killings should not hold their heads low. It was DK's best season yet in year four with a .500 record overall and in conference. And he got his first AE playoff win too in the quarterfinals over Binghamton. Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:
UAlbany men’s basketball team completed a successful season under Dwayne Killings but when you’re not at full strength against Bryant in the America East Semifinals it makes it very difficult to win. When you lose sixth man of the year Justin Neely with a shoulder injury you lose rebounding scoring and overall tough which is what you need to beat the best team in the America East Conference. The roster will look much differently next season when Killings start the process of trying to win the Championship all over again.

Now it is onto the offseason for the Great Danes which can lead to many things. I hope DK is able to retain some or most of his players into next season, but with how NIL and the Transfer Portal are you never really know. There is certainly room to grow for UAlbany, but this was by all means a good season for the Great Danes team and program.
