What Are The Expectations For UAlbany Football In 2024?
The expectations couldn't be higher for the UAlbany football program heading into this 2024 season. They were picked thirds in the CAA Conference pre season polls even those don't really matter that much. Last year the Great Danes were picked 11th and were co champions. Head Coach Greg Gattuso lost a lot of players but gains quite a few talented new ones too. He kept most of his coaches and coordinators which helps keep the relationships and stability within the program internally. Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:
UAlbany football team gets ready for summer training after a banner 2023 season and a run to the NCAA National Semifinals and year in program history. But nowadays when a team has the success the Great Danes had last season, they lose players to the portal and UAlbany is no exception. Head coach Greg Gattuso had to replace just about his entire defense and the all-important quarterback spot is open after Reese Poffenbarger left for Miami. Gattuso brings back a veteran offensive line and a good running game led by Glen Falls standout Griffin Woodell whose coming off a sensational freshmen season after making the team as a walk-on. UAlbany lost a few good player's but also added good players through the portal and will be right in the mix this season to win another CAA Championship.

I fully expect UAlbany to have another strong season. The schedule on paper appears relatively favorable and Coach Gattuso. I can't wait for the season to begin at Casey Stadium on August 31st.
