As we noticed last season, the Giants used the running back quite a bit in the passing game.  Last season, rookie Andre Williams was the target of many short drop-off passes from quarterback Eli Manning.  Williams also dropped a lot of those passes since he had not caught a pass his entire college career and with the speed of the NFL, took him time to adjust.

Shane Vereen will immediately fill the void as that pass catching running back that Manning can rely on when under pressure.  His versatility to have the ability to catch the ball out of the back field and his elusive speed is something McAdoo's offense lacked last season.  Adding another toy to this already steady offense just makes it harder for defenses to adjust and may make them use different types of coverage that may free up other receivers.

If there is anything to expect from this Giants offense with Shane Vereen, it's that they will be able to move the ball a bit better on offense and it solidifies the trio of backs that Manning and McAdoo can rely on in the back field.
