Last night, the college football playoff committee released their first poll of the season. Overall I feel the committee did a really nice job. An A for me on letter grading the committee. The biggest surprises for me were:

LSU over Notre Dame at 3-I still believe Notre Dame's win over Michigan should be a strong boost for the Fighting Irish in comparison to LSU's wins over unranked Miami, Auburn and a home victory against 6th ranked Georgia.

UCF at 12- This is a slight surprise only because I would have flopped West Virginia with UCF for 13. Combined this season UCF's seven wins have come against teams with 12 combined wins! 12! That's why they sit at 12.

NC State over Utah State?- The Wolfpack have lost by a combined 44 points the past two games. Their best non conference game on the scheduled was cancelled (versus West Virginia) Their best wins were at home against Boston College and Virginia. Why not Utah State? The Aggies rank 18th in the AP Poll. They lost one game on the road Week 1 by a touchdown to Michigan State. Since then they have won their next seven games by 244 points! I don't care who they are playing you win by an average of almost 35 a game you should be in the Top 25.
