This was absolutely by far and away the best season in my opinion in college football history.  The 12 team playoff was so good and blew away my expectations and I think everybody's this season.  Ohio State defeated Notre Dame for the national championship in what ended up being a pretty good game after the Buckeyes jumped out to a 31-7 lead.  MJ's Fighting Irish battled to the bitter end.  Unfortunately they eliminated my Penn State Nittany Lions.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:

Ohio State was the best team in College Football this season and they used the new 12-team playoff format to prove it. Head coach Ryan Day did a great to refocus his team after their season ending loss to rival Michigan and Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman did a remarkable job rallying his team after a week two loss to Northern Illinois. The new playoff format took the game and the popularity College Football to another level this season. And it's only going to get better.

Eventually I believe the Selection Committee will expand to 16 teams instead of 12 here soon, but 12 is way better than four and gives so many other schools a shot at the national championship.  Congratulations to Ohio State and head coach Ryan Day as he had a rough go of it especially after losing to rival Michigan.  It is on to the offseason for college football and next season can't come soon enough.  And my Nittany Lions will be ever better next season.
