The UAlbany Football team is off to a 1-2 start overall after back to back losses on the road at West Virginia and Idaho.  Head Coach Greg Gattuso has repeatedly told us how his team needs to find an identity.  They have struggled to both run the football and tackle, especially in the open field.  Quarterback Myles Burkett has been improving each week and has been very solid for the Great Danes.  Now comes a much needed bye week and then a home conference game against Maine.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:

UAlbany football team gets a much-needed week off before defending their CAA conference title against Maine on a September 28th. The Great Danes are 1-2 and that was a predictable record after the first three games with loses at West Virginia and at Idaho. UAlbany needs to shore up its defense and that will happen and on offense they need to run the ball more effectively. The talent is there and the schedule the rest of the way gives the Great Danes another opportunity to compete for another conference Championship.

Maine will be a tough ands physical opponent and it will be the annual hometown heroes game.  This is a game UAlbany needs to and should win.  The defense has to improve overall as well but this is the stretch of the season where it matters most in the CAA Conference.  UAlbany will be competitive and right near the top of the CAA Conference this season.
