The Siena Saints men's basketball team tipped off their 2018-2019 season last night on the road against the Providence Friars. The Saints lost in game one of the season, 77-67. In Coach Jamion Christian's first game as the program's head coach, the team entered the match up as a close to twenty point under dog. Despite the projected deficit, the Saints only trailed by seven points with less than four minutes to go. The Saints offense was led by former Shaker High School stand out Sloan Seymour's fifteen points.

According to the Times Union, Providence Coach Ed Cooley said this about the Saints following the game

There’s no way they will end up last in the MAAC. Not even close. They’re going to be well-coached. When you can make shots like that, especially when they’re playing at home, and the crowd gets into the game with them, I was really impressed with their team. (Siena fans) should be really proud of the effort they gave.”
