What To Make Of UAlbany Men’s Basketball’s 2024 Season?
The UAlbany men's basketball season ended on Saturday night in Burlington Vermont after a very hard-fought effort in a 75-72 loss on the road at the top overall seed Catamounts. They battled to the very end led by star point guard Sebastian Thomas, who did turn out to be the best point guard in the America East conference. Now it is onto the offseason for the Great Danes and let's see if they can keep both Thomas and Amar'e Marshall and also grab some starters from the transfer portal. Below is my quick take on this as seen in the Times Union:
Valiant effort on the road in Vermont on Saturday by the 8th seeded UAlbany men’s basketball team and especially from Sebastian Thomas who was the best player on the floor dropping 31 points in a 75-72 loss to the top seeded Catamounts. UAlbany regrouped after Jonathan Beagle left the team in early February and played well down the stretch. Now comes the toughest part and that’s to keep Thomas and Amare Marshall from hitting the transfer portal. If you can convince them to stay for another season and you add a front court player to replace Beagle, UAlbany can be one if the top teams next season in the America East Conference.
Coach Dwayne Killings will be entering year four in November of 2024 when the season will begin and the pressure will be on to win and advance in the America East Tournament. I do expect UAlbany to have some depth off of the bench and will improve overall next season.
