I was very impressed with UAlbany freshman quarterback Van Weber on this past Saturday afternoon.  He is a gunslinger, very tall and very confident and has extreme accuracy.  There is certainly a bright future here for him with this program as he has a real ability to move around in the pocket and throw the ball down the field at a high level.  While it has been a rough year for them record wise, they were picked apart in the transfer portal, but that is because they had a banner season.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:

The silver lining to the UAlbany football season is that freshmen quarterback Van Weber from Rutherford New Jersey is getting a chance to showcase his talents. Weber who was impressive in summer training camp played very well in a backup role at Stony Brook on Saturday and pretty much verified what the coaching staff new, that he's extremely talented with a chance to be the future of the program. Weber is expected to start the final two games of the season at Rhode Island and at home against Hampton. If he plays well, he will be very much in the conversion to win the starting job going into 2025.

The Great Danes travel to Rhode Island this Saturday at 1 p.m.  The Rams are very good but would love to see Weber play well again and hopefully lead the Great Danes to a road victory upset.  Only two more games to go for this 2024 campaign.
