Well the madness has officially begun as there were plenty of upsets from yesterday and I am sure there will be plenty more today.  None were bigger than 15 seed Saint Peter's over 2 seed Kentucky.  Siena beat the Saint Peter's twice during the regular season but it just goes to show that you never know what will happen in March Madness.  The upset that hurt me the most was when 12 seed Richmond beat 5 seed Iowa.  I really liked Iowa coming into this tournament as they were red hot down the stretch especially when they won the BIG 10 tournament.  I also had them going to the Final Four in my bracket.  Here is my quick take on this from the Times Union:

My bracket is already busted after watching Richmond knock out Iowa in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Classic example of a heavy favorite not being ready to play, and when you just go through the motions you’re going to get beat. Former Siena head coach Fran McCaffery and Iowa had a great season and his team was red hot coming into the tournament. I had Iowa as a Final Four team, but you still have to show up and make shots. Iowa didn’t do either on Thursday, and instead Richmond springs the upset. That’s why they call it March Madness.

Michael Johnson Jr. and I were live on location today from Concord Pools and Spas and we opened our show talking about March Madness.  Below is our full conversation on this.

It is hard to find a tournament in sports better than March Madness.  I hope everyone enjoyed yesterday's games and enjoys every game this weekend and let the madness continue.
