This is seriously the worst free throw ever!  This free throw is so bad that it actually makes an airball by Dwight Howard look respectable.

There is a lot of hyperbole in sports.  You will often hear media members and fans say that a particular play is the best or worst play in the history of sports.  However, even with this in mind, this free throw is literally the worst attempt of all time.  That’s not hyperbole.  That’s accuracy.

Appalachian State center Brian Okam puts the air in airball during this horrific attempt.  The ball doesn’t even make it halfway to the hoop.  A free throw is 15 feet.  The ball literally travels only about seven feet.  It doesn’t even look like it was a straight shot either based on where his teammate catches the ball.  Yikes!!  Too bad Okam can’t go back in time like Blake Griffin and tell himself to practice free throws (video below).

By the way, you can listen to Dwight Howard and the Los Angeles Lakers take on the New York Knicks this Thursday (12/13) at 8pm ET on 104.5 The Team.  Coverage begins at 7:15pm ET.  I wouldn't hold your breath for coverage of Appalachian State and center Brian Okam though.
