One year ago today, Derek Jeter hit a walk-off single in his final Yankee Stadium at-bat. The Yankees actually blew the game in the 9th inning to set up the storybook ending to a storybook career.

It's appropriate that the death of Yogi Berra this week has us talking about Yankee legends and careers of prominent Yankees.

Jeter is certainly that: One of the most famous Yankees in history, Jeter was the Captain of the Yanks and a leader on teams that won five World Series titles. He amassed more than 3,000 career hits and was part of the famed "Core Four."

Jeter is a sure-fire Hall of Famer and will forever be one of the Yankee greats. And one year ago today, he wrote the final chapter in his illustrious baseball career.

The Yankees beat the Orioles in that game. After the game ended, Jeter walked out to shortstop to soak it all in.
