Albany: A Top Summer Destination?
In a recent survey done by Wallethub.com the Tri-City areas were named a top summer destination. IThe Tri-City area ranked as number eighty-four on the list of the top 100 summer destinations. Below is the description Wallethub.com used to determine the rankings
Compared with other rankings that focus on each destination’s scenic quality, this report focuses primarily on the cost and convenience of traveling to each location as well as its affordability. However, it does take into account the number of attractions and variety of activities in each destination to ensure visitors will stay busy and entertained throughout the trip
Although eighty-fourth out of one hundred seems like an exciting distinction, Albany ranked lower than other Upstate New York cities. Other upstate New York cities that ranked higher on the list included
Buffalo at 68
Rochester at 70
Syracuse at 80
After scrolling through the list, I was happy to see Albany on this list. After living here for four years, I was proud to see the Capital Region get recognized as a fun potential summer destination.
I was shocked to see those above Upstate Cites higher than Albany. How did Buffalo, Syracuse and Rochester beat out Albany on this list? What is happening in these cities that Albany can not contend with? Despite a respectable 84th ranking, Albany should have in fact been higher on this list.
Do you agree with the list? Is Albany, New York and the surrounding Capital Region a summer destination? Let us know below.
