If we have seen the last of the Arena Football League in Albany, what a shame. There is nothing that captured the local sports community quit like the Albany Empire and the Albany Firebirds.

The Empire drew over 10,000 fans per game this past season at the Times Union Center and culminated with an Arena Football League Championship. If the league ends up folding, it’s has nothing to do with how the Albany Empire were run. Great owners, great sponsors, great fan support, and a winning product. What a shame, because Albany supports the AFL better than the rest.
