The New England Patriots will trade a fifth-round pick in 2013 to the Redskins in exchange for defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth.

It was no secret that Albert Haynesworth was totally against playing nose tackle in a 3-4 defensive scheme last year as a member of the Washington Redskins.  He will now be a member of the New England Patriots who also use a base 3-4 scheme.  However, the Patriots utilize numerous defensive fronts.

This doesn't seem to be a match made in heaven.  The Patriots base defensive scheme is not tailored to Haynesworth's liking.  It'll be interesting to see how motivated and productive Haynesworth will be with the Pats.

Haynesworth's base salary for 2011 is $5 million dollars.  He is in year two of a seven-year, $100 million dollar contract that the Redskins signed him to in 2009.
