The injuries are starting to pile up for the New York Yankees here during spring training.  First it was Giancarlo Stanton, then it was DJ Lemahieu, and now it is Luis Gil.  Gil is shut down for six weeks and could be out until the middle of summer.  That is a big blow for the Yankees starting rotation which is arguably the best in all of baseball.  The Bronx bombers will be fine as it might give Marcus Stroman an opportunity to pitch and be their fifth starter.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:

New York Yankees losing Luis Gil is big deal because it puts that much more pressure on the rest of the starting pitching staff. Gil has nasty stuff and complements the top of a stellar rotation with Gerrit Cole and Max Fried. Gil has a high grade lat sprain and most likely will be out the June. I understand it's only Spring Training, but the injuries are mounting, and some might have a carry over effect to the start of the season.

The expectations are high this 2025 season for the Yankees and for good reason.  Their plan B was in full effect right after Juan Soto went to the Mets in December.  Brian Cashman delivered this offseason but the Yankees ultimately have to go out and win some games.  I like their chances to win the AL East and make another deep run in the MLB playoffs and potentially the World Series.
