Boo Buie is set to return to the Empire State, as the Albany native has signed a contract with the New York Knicks. Buie, a 24-year old guard, inked an Exhibit 10 contract with the Knicks on Tuesday.

Per Michael Kelly of The Times Union, this type of contract allows Buie to stay with the Knicks through the rest of the preseason, after which the team will determine his next destination.

If the Knicks keep Buie on the roster for the regular season, the deal becomes a one-year minimum salary deal worth approximately $1.16 million. If he doesn't make the roster, the team can convert the deal into a two-way contract, and send Buie to their G-League affiliate in Westchester.

Regardless of the outcome, it's an incredible opportunity for a player who has performed well at every stage in his career. Buie attended Troy High School, and averaged an eye-opening 20.2 points per game as a sophomore.

He transferred to Gould Academy in Maine after his sophomore year, and averaged 27 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals per game in his first season at Gould.

He committed to play college basketball at Northwestern, arriving on campus for the 2019-20 campaign. He played five seasons with the Wildcats, finishing with a program record 2,187 points. He was a All-Big Ten first team member twice during his college basketball career, and also helped lead the Wildcats to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments for the first time in program history.

Buie was not selected during June’s NBA draft, but played during the NBA Summer League for the Phoenix Suns. The 6-foot-2 guard averaged nine points during five games in Las Vegas.

The Knicks open the regular season on October 22nd on the road against Boston.
