Should This New York Knicks Team Be Better Than They Are?

The New York Knicks are off to a decent start so far this season but not as good as they should be in my opinion. They currently sit 13-8 overall and are coming off a good win over a very good Orlando Magic team. Their chemistry early on looked a bit off to begin the year as they have several new key additions. Also Jalen Brunson did not have a good start to the season shooting the basketball. Their offense has been very good near the top of the league but their defense is near the bottom of the league and needs to improve soon here. Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:

New York Knicks fans can keep telling themselves it's early all they want, but this team should be better defensively. Dallas didn't have Luca Doncic on Wednesday, and they still placed four players in double figures and scored 124 points in a blowout win over New York. The Knicks can score the basketball with the best teams in the NBA, but they won't win in the playoffs if they don't defend. You are either a good defense team or you're not and yes, it's early but right now the Knicks are a bad defensive team. That needs to change before it's too late.

The Knicks will be fine but I don't put them in that upper echelon of teams in the Eastern Conference yet. The Celtics are still the best team. The Knicks will still finish as a top four team.
