The Red Sox are pulling a Mets. Not in the steal Billions from its fans through a  investor scam, but falling apart in September and missing the playoffs.

It’s no secret that Americans were distracted this weekend with the tenth anniversary of 9/11, and the opening of the NFL season it’s hard to believe anything else happened in world.  I know all I saw I was Robert De Niro and that same guy play taps in 30 locations all over the country. As far as sports go I saw 11 football games in 11 hours, not counting the college I watched on Saturday. So it came as a shack to me as well that both the Yankees and Red Sox have been struggling.

The Yankees had a rough stretch only taking 6 of their last 10 and having a really tough time with Baltimore for some reason, but all of this is nothing compared to Boston.  Boston has lost 8 of their last 10 and has fallen to 3.5 back of the division title. Which wouldn’t be a big deal if they hadn’t lost those games to Tampa Bay. The team trailing them in the wild card now by the same 3.5 margin.

Tampa is surging and healthy and Boston is banged up and in a slump. The storm is perfect, the tides are right, for Tampa to step in and knock the preseason World Series champion’s right out of the playoffs.
