Can The UAlbany Women Go To The NCAA Tourney Again This Year?
Head Coach Colleen Mullen and the UAlbany women's basketball team have another legitimate shot to win the America East conference again here in 2023. Last year they took down Maine on their home court to advance to the NCAA Tournament to take on #1 seed Louisville as a #16 seed. They finished the regular season as the #2 seed in the AE conference and have their eyes set on repeating as conference champions. That has been the goal all season long ever since we talked to Coach Mullen pre season. She returned a lot of players and they are a veteran and experienced group poised to repeat again.
The Great Danes beat UMass Lowell on Wednesday night at Hudson Valley Community College 59-51. On paper, UAlbany was the way better team but UMass Lowell came in winners of three straight games and the game was tied at halftime. Kayla Cooper has been huge for the Great Danes all season long as she led them with 13 points. She has been so dominant down load and her ability to constantly get rebounds is very impressive. MJ discussed the UAlbany women's win earlier this morning right here on Big Board Sports. Below is his full conversation.
Next up for the UAlbany women are the Maine Black Bears. They are a team who UAlbany has split with in the regular season and both were very good and close games. The game is at HVCC Sunday at 3 p.m. so I recommend going out and supporting the Great Danes as they are a fun watch and are a very good team.
