Yankees Week continues on 104.5 The Team

New York Yankees Week continues with YES Network's Jack Curry. Jack Curry not only covers the Yankees for the YES Network but he also has two best-selling books with Yankee stars. Curry's books "The Life You Imagine: Life Lessons For Achieving Your Dreams" was written with Hall of Fame Short Stop Derek Jeter and "Full Count: The Education Of A Pitcher" was penned with fellow YES Network commentator and Yankees pitcher David Cone are both fan favorites.

Levack and Goz kicked off "New York Yankees' Week" Monday with an appearance from Jim Leyritz. Leyritz was a clutch part of the 1996 Yankees team that launched the dynasty. Lovingly known as "King", Leyritz was awesome enough to lead off the week for us. What better way to start Yankees Week sponsored by Roland J Down than the guy who's clutch at-bats help get the Yankees a championship in 96 and came back to help in 1999?

Since Sunday, April 26, 104.5 The Team has aired encore presentations of some of Michael Jordan’s most iconic NBA Finals performances. Guilderland own Marc Kestecher has been a part of each broadcast. This final weekend's broadcast tips off at 4 p.m. ET and leads into the preview show, Countdown to the Dance at 7 p.m hosted by Jorge Sedano Each broadcast has aired prior to the week’s episode of – the 10-part documentary series about Jordan and the Chicago Bulls’ quest to win a sixth NBA title in eight years. This week's series finale begins at 9pm.

What a year for Siena Men's basketball coach Carmen Maciariello. He takes over the Saints program after then-coach Jamion Christian leaves for the same job at George Washington University, leads the Saints to the regular season MAAC title, which became the overall title when the MAAC tournament was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic and today he will welcome his second child into the world.

This summer was supposed to be all about "The Captain" Derek Jeter. The New York Yankees were set to have a great team and Jeter was set to take his rightful place in the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. Sadly we're all waiting to see if there will even be baseball this year and we're all going to have to wait until the Summer of 2021 for The Captain to be enshrined in the Hall of Fame. So in honor of Jeter here is my "Top Five Derek Jeter moments."

It seems just about every event we look forward to has been canceled thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Colonie High School's "Raider Fest" is no exception to those cancellations. Raider Fest has been the end of the school year event where students, school officials, and members of the community could come together for fun and to raise money for great causes. The students at Colonie High have decided that just because they can't gather in person doesn't mean they can't gather virtually and still do some good for Northern Rivers. This year you can join in on the "Dash of Kindness" virtual 5K.

The University of Albany Men's Lacrosse program is the result of years of blood, sweat, and tears from head coach Scott Marr. So when rumors began to swirl that Marr could possibly take the head coaching job at his alma mater John Hopkins University lacrosse fans all over the Capital Region were preparing for a heartbreak. Good news for all Great Danes fans as Marr decided to stay here at UAlbany.

The best selling author joined Levack and Goz this week

The New York Knicks finally made their debut on the ESPN Michael Jordan 10 part documentary "The Last Dance" last night. Obviously the story is focused on Jordan and his Chicago Bulls but I couldn't help but wonder if my favorite team, the 1990 Knicks' were just a footnote in MJ's legacy. ESPN senior NBA writer Chris herring joined Levack and Goz to talk about the team he covered for the Wall Street Journal, The Knicks.
