CC Sabathia was nearly unhittable on Thursday afternoon. The lefty tied a career-high with 13 strikeouts as the New York Yankees shutout the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-0.

Mark Teixeira hit his 300th career homerun to power the Yanks to their 5th straight win.

Sabathia went 7.2 innings and allowed just six hits, two walks and zero runs.  Sabathia's season ERA is now at 3.05.

CC won for the 8th time in the last 9 starts and became the first major leaguer to reach 11 victories this season.  He's now 11-4 on the year.

Mark Teixeira hit his 300th career homerun in the 3rd inning off of Randy Wolf.  He joined his Yankees teammates, Alex Rodriguez and Andruw Jones, in the 300-home run club. Teixeira now leads the Major Leagues in homers with 25 - just one ahead of Jose Bautista of Toronto.

Ryan Braun, the Hebrew Hammer, went 3-for-3 against Sabathia to extend his hitting streak to 20 games.

New York has now won 5 in a row and 15 of their last 19 - they went 5-1 on the homestand.  The Bombers improved to 11-4 in interleague play.  They are 23-4 in day games this year.  Since being swept by the Red Sox on June 9th, the Yankees have gone 15-4.

At 48-31, the Yanks enter their three-game weekend series at Citi Field at a season-high 17 games over .500.
