A bad season is getting worse for the Boston Celtics after learning that All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo will miss the rest of the 2012-13 season with a torn ACL.

The Boston Celtics learned on Sunday that Rajon Rondo will miss the rest of the 2013 season with a torn ACL.  Rondo hyperextended his right knee on Friday during a 123-111 loss to the Atlanta Hawks in double overtime.  Rondo actually recorded a triple double in the game although he suffered this devastating knee injury.

Heading into Sunday’s game against the Miami Heat, the Celtics find themselves as the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference with a (20-23) record.  Rondo was named an All-Star for the fourth time in his career this season and was scheduled to start the 62nd All-Star Game before suffering this season-ending injury.

*Update - The Celtics beat the Miami Heat 100-98 in double overtime on Sunday.  The game was aired on 104.5 The Team, ESPN Radio.  The Celtics improve to (21-23) on the season.  It's going to be an uphill battle without Rondo from here on out.  Rondo will also miss the beginning of next season.
