Five Best Bets in Our Week 8 Edition of ‘Locks of the Week,’ Plus Bonus Player Prop Selections
We're off to a great start on the week already, with the Rams covering, and winning on Thursday night. We improved to 13-8-1 on the season with our three weekly picks on the show, and now look to roll that over into some winners for these articles! Here are my four best remaining bets for Week 8 of NFL action, along with player props below.
Season Record: 16-19-1, .457 W/L%
Arizona Cardinals @ Miami Dolphins, 1:00, FOX
The Dolphins will officially be getting their $212M man back under center when they host the Arizona Cardinals, with Tua Tagovailoa returning to action for the first time since Week 2. This is the first time since his absence that we've seen an over under total like this for a Fins game, as they've dealt with brutal quarterback play in the interim.
Expect this Dolphins offense to come out and want to make up for what they've been lacking over the past four games: a vertical attack. This Cardinals offense has done less than they're fully capable of through seven games, and I expect them to make it as point of emphasis to get guys like Marvin Harrison, and Trey McBride going for this game. NFL Redzone, and Scott Hansen will feature this game plenty, en route to fifty plus points in this early showdown.
PICK: Over 46 points
Buffalo Bills @ Seattle Seahawks, 4:05, FOX
The Seattle Seahawks have been one of the more perplexing teams in all of football in 2024. One week, they lose to the Malik Nabers'less Giants at home, then the next week they go into Atlanta and stomp the Falcons. We get a Bills team that's been pretty similar to those inconsistencies as well, coming off a controlling 24 point win over the Titans.
The addition of Amari Cooper proved to be a big one, with the veteran wideout hauling in 4 balls for 66 yards and a score on just 19 offensive snaps. We spoke to Bills sideline reporter Sal Capaccio on Wednesday, and he said it's very possible that Cooper will see around double the snaps this coming Sunday. Seattle will also be without their star receiver DK Metcalf, who currently is carrying a doubtful designation for this game. Bills get it done in Seattle.
PICK: Bills -3
Kansas City Chiefs @ Las Vegas Raiders, 4:25, CBS
Breaking news: The Chiefs are still the best team in the NFL. Despite the injuries to the wide receiver room, Pat Mahomes having more interceptions than touchdowns thus far, and this offense losing their star back Isiah Pacheco, the Chiefs are currently the only undefeated team left, at 6-0.
The last time these two teams met, the Raiders actually pulled out a win, but in their previous five matchups, Kansas City is 5-0, and winning by an average margin of 19.8 points. Vegas will be rolling with Gardner Minshew in this game, after Aidan O'Connell suffered a broken thumb. They're also still adjusting to life post Davante Adams, while the Chiefs just picked up DeAndre Hopkins. Chiefs roll a depleted Vegas team in this one.
PICK: Chiefs -9.5 (Pick made with Thursday line)
New York Giants @ Pittsburgh Steelers, 8:15 (MNF), ESPN
Well, here we are again with this Giants team. Just as Daniel Jones starts to make you believe he's actually a competent quarterback, he gives you a performance like we saw last week when they welcomed Philadelphia into MetLife. The Steelers on the other hand, made the decision to go with Russell Wilson under center last week, much to the dismay of fans, and media members such as myself. After an ugly first quarter, Russ put all those concerns to bed in a dominating home win over my Jets.
The Giants also could be without their starting right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor, meaning it'd likely be Evan Neal lining up against T.J. Watt. This O-Line gave up eight sacks versus Philly, I can't begin to imagine how they plan to deal with this pass rush on Monday Night. While the public will be all over the Steelers here, I'll go ahead and join them.
PICK: Steelers -6 (Pick made with Thursday line)
