Defensive end Aaron Maybin was a colossal bust with the Buffalo Bills.  After getting released by Buffalo, the former first-round pick is expected to sign with the New York Jets today.

Aaron Maybin was the 11th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft.  He only started one game in two seasons with the Bills and failed to record a single sack.  After weighing his options with other teams that were interested in him, the Penn State product is taking a physical with the Jets today.

The headline of this story will most likely gain a lot more attention than Maybin will on the field.  There is a great chance that Maybin won't even make the final 53-man roster if he signs with the Jets today as expected.  Many players who sign around this time often fail to make the squad.

It's a smart move by the Jets though.  Why not?  The possible reward outweighs the risk.  Maybin has the potential to be productive, and he can be signed for dirt cheap right now.  Why not take a stab at it?  Worst case, he stinks.  Cut him and move on.
