It certainly seems as though Gabriel Davis has played his last game as a member of the Buffalo Bills.

Davis was drafted by the team in the 4th round of the 2020 NFL Draft, and immediately became a difference-maker in then-offensive coordinator Brian Daboll's offense. Davis hauled in seven touchdowns as a rookie, just one behind Stefon Diggs' team-leading eight that year.

He grew consistently as a professional through his first three seasons in the league, finishing 2022 with a career-high 836 receiving yards, and again, seven touchdowns. He took a slight step back in production in 2023 (746 yards), but still managed to score (surprise) seven touchdowns.

That said, Davis is at the end of his contract, and due for a payday. With the Buffalo Bills in a sticky salary cap situation, it appears as though Davis may have reached the end of his playing days with the Bills.

Don't believe us? Check out this video, which Davis posted on his social media accounts on Tuesday:

Call it a break-up, a parting of ways, or a divorce. Whatever term you choose to use seems to be accurate, however, and these two sides seem to be destined for a split.

It's always a shame when a team loses a homegrown player, but for fans who watched games at the end of the season, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise. Davis had zero receptions in four of the team's final eight games of the season, and was inactive during the playoffs.

To put it simply, the writing seemed to be on the wall.

For the team, it's a chance to find a more dynamic wide receiver to compliment Stefon Diggs, as opposed to Davis, who is known as more of a deep threat.

For Davis, however, this should be viewed as an opportunity. Gabe Davis was never going to earn the No. 1 wide receiver spot in Buffalo while Stefon Diggs was on the roster. This is his opportunity to go to a new team, and prove that he can be a No. 1 target in this league.

New York Giants, perhaps?
