Game 1 of the New York-Penn league Championship goes to Tri-City. In extra innings the Cats beat the Hudson Valley Renegades 5-4 in 10 innings.

Preston Tucker's sac fly in the bottom of the 10th inning won the ball game for the Cats. Tri-City had a 4-3 lead going to the 9th  but closer Vincent Valasquez gave up a tying home run to the Renegades' Leonardo Reginatto with one out in the inning. This was Valasquez's first appearance in a game since August 7th due to back issues.

Valasquez came in the game in the 7th inning to replace starter Juri Perez who went the first six. Reginatto's home run was the first hit allowed by the ValleyCat closer. He sat down the first eight batters he faced.

The ValleyCats had to rally from an early 3-0 hole. Hudson Valley scored three out of the gate off Perez. Tri-City started the comeback in the 2nd inning courtesy of the power of Dan Gulbransen. The Cats took the lead with more power as Catfish Elkins clobbered a two run homerun in the 4th inning to give the Cats a 4-3 lead that held up until the 9th.

Tri-City is now one win away from their 2nd title in three years but will have to do it on the road. Game 2 and if needed game 3 will be played at Hudson Valley.
