How Awesome Of A Story Was Cohoes’ Zach Remillard’s MLB Debut?
What a cool story it was this weekend for Cohoes New York native Zach Remillard. Nothing makes me happier than seeing local products succeed on the big stage. Zach was a three time member of the Albany Dutchmen and won the College World Series with Coastal Carolina. He has been in the minor leagues since 2016 and has battled and worked his way up to Triple A to now the Big Leagues. Saturday night he made his Major League Baseball debut with the Chicago White Sox. It ended up being a historic debut. Remillard is the only player in MLB history in the modern era since 1901, to have both the game tying and winning hit after the 9th inning which is incredible. He replaced the injured Tim Anderson and the White Sox got a much needed win in 11 innings 4-3.
I was out on Monday morning but MJ and Big Game James Allen from the Times Union filled in for me and discussed the historic weekend for Remillard. It was a great story and further proves how hard work and perseverance pays off. Below is their full conversation on this from Monday morning.
We will be continuously following Zach's season this year with the White Sox as well as our other local products including Kevin Smith and Tommy Kahnle. We are all rooting for Zach Remillard and you could not have had a better MLB debut than he did on Saturday. One thing is for sure, the Capital Region produces some awesome and talented baseball players.
