I think Pete Alonso is poised for a very big season with the New York Mets in 2025.  He will be making $30 million this year which will make him the highest paid first baseman in the entire league.  That will put some added pressure on him this season and I hope he can deliver on it.  The Mets will now have Juan Soto which always helps you and your chances even more.  Below is my quick take on this in The Times Union:

What's not to like about Pete Alonso? Alonso is not going to admit he didn't get the deal what he wanted from Mets' Owner Steve Owner, but he's back in Training Camp after signing a new 2-year $54 million contract with 30 million coming in his first year. If Alonso wants to parlay his new deal into a bigger one in 2 years he needs to have a monster season and hitting alongside Juan Soto he should be able to make that happen.  In the meantime, Alonso wanted to play for no other team then the New York Mets and the Mets fan base could not be happier about it. I expect a big season from the Polar Bear.

The Mets are a top three team in the National League and are arguably the best team in the NL East.  Pete will certainly hit plenty of home runs and I have the utmost confidence in him.  But if he doesn't have a good season, the Met fanbase will be all over him and so will the New York media.
