Finally we have some positive news surrounding the Arena Football League.  The league will go from sixteen teams to ten and we have a new commissioner that has some credibility and stability.  That would be former NFL head coach Jeff Fisher was the director of operations for Nashville in the AFL.  Again the Albany Firebirds have been totally and completely clean in all of this.  Now the fans will be reassured knowing that the Firebirds will be playing games against actual opponents.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:

Jeff Fisher will be named the new commissioner of the Arena Football League and not a second too soon. The AFL is losing teams for various reasons and the former Tennessee Titans head coach can bring instant credibility and stability to the league. Fisher is a very recognized name and face who wants to take over the AFL and get it back on the right track. The teams in the league including the Albany Firebirds will welcome him with open seam because the timing is perfect.

The Capital Region has so many passionate and dedicated Arena Football League fans all over.  They deserve a quality team and product especially after everything that transpired in 2023 with the Albany Empire.  The Firebirds have a great team with several highly talented players, a great head coach in Damon Ware, and a great ownership group and I know them well and consider them all great friends.  The Firebirds will be back home Sunday at the MVP Arena at 1 p.m.
