How Competitive Will The Siena Men Be This MAAC Season?
The Siena men's basketball team is obviously not off to a good start. On paper they currently sit at 3-13 overall but they are 2-3 overall in the MAAC Conference and that's really all that matters. In a conference that doesn't have an at large bid into the NCAA Tournament, all you need to do at the end of the day is win your conference and get into the tournament. Nobody is really even pulling away with the MAAC right now anyway. Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:
If the Siena men’s basketball team is going to compete for a MAAC Championship the rest of the season they will lean heavily on Redshirt Junior guard Sean Durugordon who has been a different maker once he was given the green light to play after transferring from Austin Peay. Durugordon scored 66 points in two road games at Canisius and Niagara. And when he gets help from Michael Eley the Saints can win conference games like they did on Monday at Niagara. Siena is 2-3 in the MAAC and with addition of Durugordon who plays a very high level the Saints are a dangerous team especially in March.

Next up for Siena is Quinnipiac at home at the MVP Arena Friday night at 7 p.m. It is a great chance for them to get back on track at home and win back some of the Siena faithful who understand that this struggling Saints team is much better than their record says and Coach Carm is a very good coach.
